Battle of the Alamo and I don't mean 1836

Battle of the Alamo is a bboy competition that has been going on for about 5 years or so in San Antonio, Texas. You'll be sure to find some footage uploaded on youtube. Here's the flyer for it. The collective hopes that you all will be able to make it out. We will be entering. Hip-hop will most definitely be represented in all forms.


Emphasis on DJ JJ LOPEZ!!! One of the illest house/funk/soul DJs in Texas, if not the country. This member of the Diggin Deep Quartet (J.J. Lopez, Prince Klassen, DJ Gibb and Sean G) will now be having a radio segment on a local jazz station, KRTU, 91.7, 1:00-3:oopm every saturday until further notice. I had the chance to cool out and dance to his live set this past Saturday at Sam's Burger Joint here in town. He played some soothing soul as I was enjoying a few drinks then kicked it up a notch to make me get up and groove. Here's the flyer for his radio show.


He actually recorded his live set this past saturday and will be opening up with it on KRTU. And in between his sets played Sexto Sol, a local latin jazz band. I really hope they go national mainstream soon. These guys are 1000x better than Los Lonely Boys with what they're doing for their genre of music, Los Lonely Boys playing rock. And on friday another latin jazz band that goes by the name of Torch will be playing at Club Luna, a local jazz club playing the best in live jazz. So I hope you'll have your hands full this friday and saturday by making it out to some of these events. The weekend has begun.
